Rusty and Elise wanted some family portraits with their daughter, Clara. They wanted simple, beautiful pictures; pictures that they can look at years from now and say “Remember when…?”
We chose to do the shoot at their Raleigh home, and we started late in the afternoon, as the sun was going down and creating that soft, dewy atmosphere that makes pictures so beautiful. I was working with a trio of my favorite lenses — the Canon EF 50 f/1.2L; Canon EF 85 f/1.2L and the Canon EF 135 f/2.0L. In addition to the wonderful resolution they provide, their ultra-wide apertures allow me to shoot in very low light significantly blur out the background, making the subjects almost pop out of the photos. The pictures of Clara, especially, really came out beautifully. A wonderful shoot with some wonderful pictures!
